Virgo Rising: The Maze

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.  / We have no right to express an opinion until we know all of the answers  – Kurt Cobain, Virgo rising.

A Vigo rising is a bit of a contradiction, today I want to talk about the troubles these folks face- as well as the strengths of their character. The ascendant is often described as a mask- it is not who you really are.  Is that really so? If you think about it- a mask is still something you chose to wear- it is still a part of who you are.  By choice I do not mean you chose to behave like your rising, rather you identify with it. For example, our taste in food, music, fashion and friends all compose our self-image.

What is the self-image of the Virgo rising?

Virgo rising people are used to being the responsible one, they are familiar with people turning towards them when things need to get done or a question needs to be answered.

Unlike an Aries rising they are not “the wild one” or at least not when growing up- but we will get to that a bit later. You can recognize a Virgo rising person if you meet them and the first thing they do is ask you a question. The Gemini may ask you something to start a conversation but the Virgo will ask you something like: “would you like some water?” they will then run into the kitchen and bring you something. They will not do it like the Libra rising, with a smile and lots of charm- they will always do things without taking the limelight and probably without making a big deal out of it. This is why people tend to view them as reliable and responsible.

Really what the Virgo rising wants and does is only one thing: gathering information. It is their curse and their gift. They may be doing something with you or for you but their mind is always in one place- wanting to know.  Knowing for them is the way their mind works- they always need more information and once they have it they make sure to gather more details – in every situation. The Virgo rising is truly amazing when it comes to what they know- which is a lot- the only problem is they don’t  filter the information at all. It is truly hard for them to figure out what is important and what is useless and so they end up with a messy mind. Worse, they end up obsessed and stressed out and unable to organize their mind.

It is truly hard for them to figure out what is important and what is useless and so they end up with a messy mind. Worse, they end up obsessed and stressed out and unable to organize their mind.

I believe it is a misconception to think of Virgo as the clean, organized person- the usual description of Virgo qualities is really a description of who they want to be.The Virgo rising wants to be the perfect person, perfection can mean a lot of different things for a lot of different people.

Usually these are the people who strive to reach that image, and guess what? They really do care what you think of them.  They care because they don’t realize that other people are not necessarily putting them under scrutiny all the time- it is they who are so hard on themselves. They really do need to learn to turn that negative record in their brain: “I’m not good enough; I wish I was better looking, I could do this job better”.

The Virgo rising is rarely relaxed- they are always busy on the inside- trying to learn, analyze or criticize the new information.  They don’t show how tired that makes them feel- usually you know something is wrong if they take a sick day or stop asking questions. This rising sign is an introverted one- they do need time alone to relax and unwind.  More importantly they need time to figure out what matters to them and what is just a response towards the stimulation of the world.

They are not repressed emotionally like the Virgo Moon person- but they are unable to stop their mind from racing. The best way to deal with this is to use their genius ability for the sake of others- if they do research of some sort for a goal that someone else needs, their mind is able to let some of the information go. They should also try and learn about meditation or anything else that relaxes and stops their mind from working.

Another thing they should learn (a very Virgo word) is to organize their life better so that they don’t get stuck on all the details. Instead of having to remember where they put their phone or keys of what bills they need to pay- they are better of turning to work that serves them.

Regardless of all that is going on within the mind of a Virgo rising (it is a very interesting mind), they will appear to have it together- they look like they know where they are going. A Virgo rising can be recognized by the following things:  Their eyes are very penetrating and moving from one thing to the next- their gaze is not steady but it is smart. They just look like smart people- it can be all kinds of smart: street smart, student smart, life smart. Similarly to the Gemini there is an element of clever mischief in their gaze as well.  When they let their hair down they tend to be the quirkiest and funniest people. The sense of humor can be a bit sharp but the lines are delivered in such a gentle way you may have missed the joke!  The sound of their voice is almost always quiet and the timber soft.  They appear to be in control of their bodies- their shoulders, back the tilt of the head and they just seem to know where their hands are at. This may make them seem a bit artificial and maybe snobby- to some signs.

In truth Virgo rising just want to appear perfect and they are worried you might judge them, so they try very hard to control themselves. This is a bit unfortunate because when they don’t focus on their own mind and perceptions of the world- they are able to shine with how clever, funny and perfect they are. That is the irony- they are more perfect than most people, as they put so much time and effort into what they do. They just happen not to be perfect at everything – and their biggest flaw in their inability to forgive themselves and others for their flaws.

Now let’s talk about their wild side. They do have one- in fact, the Virgo rising is the person most likely to do crazy things- when they let go.  Remember they are curious people? So that interest may be turned towards less savory things at times. In addition to the interest to know more- it is good to know their shadow side is Pisces- the big dreamer, the escapist. When your shadow side is Neptune- running away from problems is an issue.  The symptoms of these issues can be using drugs, alcohol or sex to run away. It can be a running away into their maze-like mind, into the obsessive thoughts that keep playing.

The same shadow side is also the answer- they are secretly an idealist and they can turn their wish for perfection towards fixing the world- and themselves.  If the problem is in their mind- the answer is both in the Pisces shadow but also out there- in the actual world.

At the end of the day, Virgo is a sensual sign and their personal growth can only happen through true and real, honest interaction with the “real” world.  Not the world of ideas, thoughts, memories and information- no. The actual world of the present- where they let themselves be flawed and walk outside into the light- being who they really are- honest about their identity without trying to conform to an ideal.  When they reach that point in their growth- they are beautiful. Shining with their deep insight into everything and most of all- in their ability to see that everything is nothing- and only the now matters.

Moon in Virgo – the Beautiful Mind

I was debating writing about this Moon- it is one of the more demanding but then I thought how demanding it must be for those born with it- and decided to stop complaining.

So what is the Moon like in Virgo? Well the Moon is our mental and emotional inner image, it is how we react to things we care about. And what do we care about? When we are little we care about being loved, home, family and when we grow up this translates into our adult relationships.

Traditionally Virgo is very rational, analytical, detail oriented, but don’t forget it is also an Earth sign and one of the more sensual ones at that. Virgo thinks but it also feels through its practical endeavors. What makes the Virgo feel good is being able to get to the bottom of things, to know how they work, it digs in and then breaks the picture into little puzzle pieces- the emotional world of the Virgo, like the Taurus Moon needs stability, but of a different kind. The Virgo Moon needs to know everything is in place, all its thoughts and emotions neatly ordered within. This is all good, but emotions are not very neat and orderly things and so the Virgo Moon is in a flux about itself. As a result Virgo Moon people are very self-critical, they are never perfect enough, good enough. They ask the impossible from their own hearts- to stay in place and play by the rules. But hearts don’t do that do they? Behind the deep thoughts and knowledge of every Virgo Moon is a truly vulnerable person. We all are vulnerable but the Virgo moon is so because in childhood dealing with their inner world became a difficult task. Instead many Virgo Moon kids found themselves doing things: competing and winning medals, dancing, cooking and even working. The Virgo Moon is always busy- and it likes to be. Most Virgo Moon’s you will meet have a mountain of knowledge inside their heads which they take for granted.  They are the learners, the smart ones. The Moon does symbolize the mother and so the mother figure or any important feminine figure in their lives was probably very pushy- pushing them to do more, be more instead of just being. Maybe the mother was a teacher or even worse a mother who never got a professional outlet and bestowed that on their kid.

Every Moon has a task to deal with- the Virgo Moon needs to let go of that teacher in their heads and of all that noise. That is the issue, the constant noise of the mind. As they grow up, the Virgo Moon’s learn to find a healthy outlet for that cluttered mind- usually in a professional frame. They make great researchers, writers and therapists. Some just sit and meditate all day or in bad cases escape into drugs- self-criticism is a problem. Virgo is ruled by Mercury- so one thing Moon in Virgo can develop is emotional intelligence. They learn and use what they learn to be emotionally smart. Another good aspect of the Virgo Moon is its ability to think things over; they would not jump into stupid impulsive conclusions about anything. They are usually soft spoken and clever people and loyal friends. Virgo also rules health- so emotional health may be something they care and know much about. I also noticed Virgo Moons can be good speakers, especially if they are teaching you about something- which they will. Sometimes, the Virgo Moon gets so warped up in analyzing things, it misses the whole point. So they need friends who can tell them they need to just let go, and enjoy. The Virgo Moon is sensual remember? So if given a chance they know how to have a good earthy fun- but only as long as it falls into their own set of rules. The rules are completely subjective, so you wouldn’t know what they are. One Virgo Moon I knew, would work all day, chattering and gossiping in between- he was a clean cut guy, the kind that never drinked or smoked in his life. But one day during a University lecture lunch he got very drunk, seemed to have a good time. Later I learned he did it only because it was University related – part of the rules. So don’t be surprised to meet a very wild Virgo Moon- behind that they are thinking things over, I promise you.

The Virgo Moon does have some trouble in love. They know what they want and don’t want- which is great. But sometimes the standards can seem completely irrational to other people. Like a girl I knew who would only date a guy who never wears shorts. A good partner for this Moon would be someone like a Pisces- who is more emotional and dreamy. Preferably with some small issue that the Virgo Moon can fix, but no big issues pleas- the Virgo Moon has way too many things keeping them busy and a messed up partner isn’t helpful.  I also see this Moon finds it easier in charts of Fire signs and harder with more earth signs in the chart. The Virgo Moon should develop a sense of spiritual place in the world, and try and see how they can make their dreams a practical reality- they are amazing at that. They should cultivate their natural emotional intelligence, which is a great gift and remember to have a little thought free fun.

The Complex art of Compatibility Charts

Today I am going to walk you through the first steps in reading a compatibility chart. Probably one of the most sought after readings in Astrology, because at the end of the day we all want the same thing- love, intimacy, friendship.

What they don’t tell you is how complicated such a reading can be. The amount of information and possibilities seen is no joke. The same aspects and sign placements can mean many different things. Nevertheless, some rules do apply and you can find out a great deal from such a chart about your relationship with the other person. Personally, I know more about Birth charts and Solar returns then this type of practice. Yet even I am not immune to its charms and practical use. Here too the Birth Chart is central if you want to figure things out, there are two main methods you can try:

 A. Look at the chart as if it’s the Birth chart of your relationship to each other. Just reading it according to the usual method.

B. Say you  are dating someone new and you want to know if this is a good relationship or not. What you need to do is study your chart and then his/her chart separately and then combine what you learn and compare it to the Compatibility Chart.

As you can guess I prefer the second method, it’s just more correct in my opinion. You don’t need to be a pro to do this- all you need is basic natal knowledge and the tools to apply it.

To help you here are some questions that can guide the process. First, find out what the relationship is like in style. For some background let’s say we have Jake and Mary and they are dating for a short period of time. They don’t know much about each other, but they both really want this to work.  Jake is an Aries with a Virgo Moon and Mary is a Capricorn with a Pisces Moon.  You look at the Chart and you see the Sun falls into Leo in 10th house and the Moon is in Virgo in the 6th. Though the rest of the chart should be considered in terms of style you already know that it’s more of a “work” relationship than a “romantic” one. This doesn’t mean they can’t fall in love and marry – not at all! It just means that the relationship is going to be more about working together and making goals and a daily routine then about fun adventures.

It is also very important to compare the signs to the Birth charts of the couple.  We know that Aries and Capricorn are worlds apart, but here we have opposite Moon’s In Virgo and Pisces. So Jake and Mary may feel that the other one has qualities that they wish they had. Jake may wish he could let go of analyzing his emotions and just feel and Mary may wish she could be less sensitive to criticism. The combined chart (as I call it) has a Moon in Virgo in the 6th house. Because Jake is a Virgo moon then a power struggle to have the relationship as he wants it to be may become a problem. You see- he may fall in love with Mary and feel amazing with her, but she may find it a bit harder to feel good. Unless they “work” on their emotions and home together or build a project that would enhance their careers. Emotionally this is not an easy partnership.

But let’s not give up and keep looking some more. Sun in Leo is somewhat fun and gives both of them time to breath- as long as they take pride in who they are by doing work. Next Venus and Mars are very important. Jake has his Venus in Taurus making him sensual and giving in love, but most importantly it makes him want women that are stable, practical, and classy- Just like Mary! Who is such a Capricorn that she does have some of these qualities: she is classy and practical, and Jake would like that about her. Jakes Mars is in Cancer which gets along amazingly with the opposite Capricorn in a sexual relationship.  So things are not as bad as a first glance would make you think. They might date and not get along at first but eventually over time they will enjoy each other.  What about Mary?  She had her Mars in Leo; she likes a partner who is confident, creative, energetic and maybe a little bossy. But most importantly she likes him to be open and have a big heart. Jake is an Aries and he is very much that- open, honest and proud. His very analytical nature would be forgiven as it helps Mary overcome her fears and deal with her dreams, turning them into reality. As a Capricorn she would like that very much. They both can have a nice business together maybe at home (Moon in the 10th house) and if they work as a team then this can be a very loving partnership.

This is just a very little example- but as you can see so many things need to be taken into account when trying to understand a relationship.

Here is a check list that would help you:

Is the chart more about feelings? Planets in the 4th, 8th and 12th house. or Is it more about ideals? the 9th house or perhaps all about fun? look for planets In the 5th house.

Is it a harmonious relationship? Lots of Trines and sextiles, or a challenging one? Many squares and opposing planets.

Is Saturn well aspected? If yes it will be a long lasting relationship.

Uranus may show you if a breaking up is a danger.

Is it a soul-mate relationship- planets in the 7th house,8th and sometimes 12th.

Does any of the partners have anger issues (Mars) or substance abuse (Neptune)?

I hope this helps, please remember that even a difficult chart can with some extra work signify a great relationship. It’s all about learning the weak and strong points for a better version of the chart.

Wish you love.

Dont Worry Virgo: Jupiter Likes You

Jupiter is the planet of expansion, specifically the expansion of the higher mind. Mercury rules the communications of ideas but its Jupiter that rules the learning that is required. How do we learn? We need to expand the limits of our minds so that new ideas can come in. The real purpose of Jupiter is to allow you to reach the highest spiritual potential in this life.

Jupiter in your natal chart is the equivalent of a lucky charm that pushes you towards something better. But this “lucky charm” has its own rules and limits mainly that it should be used to expand your soul and mind that is true even if Jupiter give you money. Jupiter can make you rich and famous but only so you can become better through it. Let’s say you suddenly become rich during a Jupiter transit- it still has a higher purpose you must find out.

Today I am going to talk about the restricted Jupiter, the Jupiter that falls into a Sign, House or Aspect that doesn’t allow expansion. For example, Jupiter in the 6th or in Virgo is restricted because this places work against the nature of Jupiter.  Virgo likes to look at details, making things smaller and as I said Jupiter likes things bigger.

So what does it mean to have your Jupiter in Virgo? It means you will find your spiritual development in the Virgo realm, in itself there nothing wrong with that. People with this placement do well and feel good serving others. The type of service would be seen by the house Jupiter is in. In either case, Jupiter likes to teach you things and here it allows you to be a student of the spiritual in a very material way. You may join groups that study together, you may read allot or work in service of others who need help.

The problem is going to be that your thinking is very details and deep but it doesn’t seem to give you the bigger picture. You see all the little pieces of the puzzle and you understand each of them very well but you don’t always know how to put them together.

What to do? Embrace the house placement and you will be able to make the puzzle whole. Jupiter in the 3rd house for example will make an amazing teacher, writer and speaker about philosophy, religion and media. You have Jupiter in the 5th house? You will do well to give light and humor to others in a creative way; this is the creative teacher or the laughing Dalai Lama.

The real truth here is that Jupiter in Virgo is capable of bringing so much kindness and happiness to others in the world. You bring your lucky charm to serve others- and you love it for in allows you to grow and learn. So pleas for the sake of humanity, embrace the limitations of life and you will see how giving can be your reward. You will find yourself feeling whole with Jupiter and with knowing your true purpose in life.

What is your Jupiter purpose?

Descendant in Pisces: Love and Relationships

Kurt Cobain
Did I say eyes? Amanda has a Pisces rising

Your 7th house is all about your relationships with others. Ruled by Libra and Venus it is a good place to study when questions of love arise. If you have this placement then this means you have a Virgo ascendant. The sign here will show your other half, and the type of people you attract or want in your life. Or the people who want you- and you can’t help but wonder why?

A Pisces Descendant is not an easy place to be. These are people that appear very earthy, analytical, and precise- on the surface. Pisces is the opposite of Virgo as it embodies: transcendence and emotions -it’s anything but precise. The Pisces cannot be pinned down, it’s wishy washy and likes to run away into some other world. Like the hippies of the 60’sthe Pisces idea of love is all beautiful- but it doesn’t always deliver in the material world.

So now you can maybe understand what kind of difficulty such a placement can have. The Virgo rising person attracts people that are full of beautiful ideas and promises- that can prove to be completely untrue! The Virgo rising is fascinated with these people who can bring so much emotion into their life. But they must be careful to always seek the truth and not believe everything that is being promised.

Why are the Pisces types running towards the Virgo risings? As the old saying goes: “opposites attract”, and so the Pisces thinks that the Virgo is wonderful finally! Someone sensitive enough to listen to all the problems, wash the dishes, pay the bills. This is the relationship where one person is pursuing a dream to become an author for years- while the other person is the one taking care of all the real life stuff for them.

The good news is that the partner you are very likely to have is going to have amazing eyes. Not kidding, Pisces eyes are the ones with long lashes sparkles in them, blue or just dreamy and pretty.  You will find love with a very idealistic person, an artist, and musician. Your partner is going to be a person who will be very sweet and gentle towards you, who will look at you as if you a god or goddess. They will idealize you and think you are the best.

To know where and how you shall find this spiritual being, just look at the placement of your Neptune and Jupiter. The houses and signs they are in, can give you a clue of who this person might be.  All you have to do is make sure to have clear boundaries in the relationship.

Pleas watch out for these things:

Any drug or alcohol use-always avoid being the one to heal or fix the person. This will only result in pain for you. Not that you cannot help- but you will ruin yourself in the process.

Empty promises that never actually come true- watch the actions forget the words

Don’t have lovers take money or anything you hold dear for the sake of “helping them”

Make sure that they don’t have a criminal record (really)

Enjoy these things:

Helping them a little bit with making their dreams come true

Learning to have you emotions take hold in everyday life

Remembering you dreams and ideals- and making them a reality

The beautiful creativity and spirituality of your lover s and friends

Hope this post has been helpful, if you have any questions you are welcome to ask me.

I apologize for the long delay in posts. I was going through some difficult changes and transits 🙂
