Chiron in the Houses

Chiron in our chart is that painful itchy spot in our psyche. It is that place where we feel most vulnerable and least capable of dealing with rationally. I don’t think it ever stops hurting…But we learn to deal with it better.

We must remember we ALL have our pain to carry. I think Chiron calls for acceptance of that wound, allow it to scar and wear it to battle with pride. Sometimes it will have bad days, it will burn and hurt to the bottom of your soul. Some days you can look at it and be proud of how far you have come- regardless of the pain. You will only see the scar but it will be numb.

What about healing you ask? Well, Chiron is often our most “wise” aspect. It shows us great pain but also the reasons for it. The healing is made of acceptance and wisdom gained… At least in my experience, completely healing a Chiron wound never means not experiencing it again. Instead, I find the potential for healing has more to do with other people. Chiron shows the area where you can help other people heal. That has been my experience of it. I have Chiron in the 11th house, so friendships/bullying in groups are the areas of pain. I become like a small weak child it those areas when that wound is reopened. This is usually related to childhood conditioning and “triggers”.

My healing of Chiron is about wanting and knowing how to help those people in society that feel “different” and strange. Having known the feeling myself I know what they need and feel very passionate about protecting people who are bullied. So yes, Chiron is both that small scared child and wise old man.

In a natal chart, I would definitely pay attention if you have Chiron conjunct an angel or aspecting other planets. Transits too can show you how your Chiron story tends to play out.

Chiron in the first house: Your greatest wound is related to your sense of identity and importance. Early life experiences didn’t allow you to express your personality in a way that fits what you want to convey. You may have been bullied or ridiculed as a child. You appear vulnerable to other people.

Chiron in the second house: You have a lot of pain around feeling safe and secure. You may lack the structure of support to feel like you have a place to fall on a rainy day. You may hurt over matters of self-value and stability.

Chiron in the third house: You may have felt inadequate in school. Maybe had speech/learning hardships. Teachers and neighbors may have been too harsh. You have pain over being misunderstood.

Chiron in the fourth house: You have pain about your family roots and past. Maybe your relatives have big problems that effected you. The family may have been too weak to defend and take care of you.

Chiron in the 5th house: You may have received backlashes from people when expressing yourself. You have pain around your creative impulse and individuality. Something may have happened when you were letting your guard down and “having fun”. Romance may be an area where things got twisted.

Chiron in the 6th house: You have pain about being of service to other people. Maybe daily chores and things that seem mundane cause you a lot of anxiety. The pain is around getting things done and worrying about health.

Chiron in the 7th house: Your relationships may have caused a lot of painful conflicts. You seem to get uncalled for reactions from others. Long-term intimacy is you vulnerable area. You also really seek approval from other people when in a low place.

Chiron in the 8th house: You have pain around secrets/ family money and values. Sex is an area you understand well but can get lost in. Hidden forces cause you fear or trigger obsessive responses/addictions.

Chiron in the 9th house: You may have felt you are not smart enough. Your personal philosophy may not fit in. You may reject the idea of higher education. You have pain around feeling free to do and go where you want. You have views that make you an outsider.

Chiron in the 10th house: You may have pain around your status in society. You may feel no matter what you achieve you are still not deserving. You may take a hit to your image when you feel your strongest. You can’t join the “high” club (in your mind).

Chiron in the 11th house: You may have pain around friendships and groups. Groups may be a source of rejection or bullying. You are an underdog. Groups cause anxiety.

Chiron in the 12th house: You have deep pain that comes through in dreams and messages. You have pain about society and some unknown truth. Fears that come through the veil of existence.

Venus in Pisces

A sparkling fountain of dreams…Some of them broken others taking wing.

This is a truly enchanting natal placement if somewhat elusive. Venus strives to own beauty as it sees it, co-ruled by Taurus and Libra, the beauty of Venus is that of the sensual kind or the esthetic abstract ideal.

Think…The scent of rich perfume (Taurus) or the glossy bottle holding it (Libra).

What would a Pisces Venus do with the bottle? It will hold the perfume bottle and admire it and then drop int on the ground and watch the shards of glass sparkle in the sun, musing about the brokenness of all beauty…You get the picture.

Pisces is not about ownership but about letting go. Venus in Pisces appreciates what can not be captured or owned by regular means. It enjoys the elusive ideal that can’t be defined.

More than anything it enjoys atmosphere of enchantment and fantasy, This can be captured through artistic means like photography, music, poetry…Often something slightly dreamy and sad about it. Venus in Pisces enjoys the process of making the sensual and factual into something more- by elevating it into realms beyond the mundane.

Because Pisces Venus is ruled by Neptune, the love life of these natives is often wrought with misunderstandings and broken hearts. If Neptune makes hard aspect to personal planets it can create a yearning for soul union that is too strong to be realized with any mortal human.

Even if Neptune is well aspected in the chart, some elements of this story will sound familiar: Falling deeply in love, being disappointed, finding out it was all a lie…

On the other hand, this Venus is a true heart breaker itself. Why? Because the love it gives may at first be directed at one person but ultimately it is directed towards humanity, it is not a personal possessive kind of love. It doesn’t want to own another person or be owned in return. It may seek deep true love and connection, be generous and giving, but at some point it won’t feel right.

If Venus in Pisces is not mature it can attempt to find all that “humanity” in one person. They may elevate the person they love to a godly status. Imagine living up to that!

If it is mature, it will instead give love to the person they care about well still keeping some of their heart for their ideals and dreams. They may learn to balance soul-union with a healthy detachment.

This Venus thrives in its ability to be somewhat detached. No matter how difficult things get it can find true joy and beauty in something higher.

The ability to elevate anything into a fantasy makes them talented artists and creators. They can make great filmmakers of example (Neptune rules filming) or even actors. Certainty, they are very compassionate and care a lot about people ( as long as it is not one person) so various professions that involve caring for the sick and needy suite them.

This Venus is a better placement for females- at least in current society. Venus in Pisces Males tend to want to rescue a female that has fallen from grace (have you seen Pretty Woman?) or they can stay bachelors for a long time as no woman fits their ideal of love. In a female chart it will give grace to the expression of affection.

I hope I managed to paint a picture of this Venus: It may create an enchanted forest- a true a dream of beauty but it always has its darkness. It is the kind of darkness like a siren: Enchanting but leading to a bottomless nowhere…

This charm works wonderfully in the realms of art and in it’s ability to inspire compassion in humankind. Yet, it stands somewhat alone and lonely within our world. The enchanted forrest can’t always stand the light of day.

This is at the core of all Pisces Venus  needs – finding a concrete structure to support it. It can be done through embracing a spiritual path or joining in with something larger. For example, with a group of people working towards a common ideal. It will depend on the placement of Venus in the chart to see what path is best.

The support is crucial as the dualism of Pisces can make it flow somewhere…but get to nowhere every time.

This Venus is sensitive but can always move on to brighter waters. It is flexible like that…And always hopeful. In this sense, it is a very powerful placement and can survive emotional wounds time and again.

Mercury in the 8th house: Cutting Edge

If you have Mercury located in your 8th house you know words and ideas hold great power.

You are highly sensitive and aware of the importance of thoughts in shaping our world. Most probably, you are hyper-aware of what other people are thinking around you. Depending on the sign, this awareness can be focused on people close to you (water), society at large (air) or those in close proximity physically (Earth).

The 8th house is an intuitive house (ruled by Scorpio) therefore, although you may become fascinated with theories that explain why and how people think: Psychology, religion, criminology, science, spirituality and even Astrology- this is all a tool for you to try and understand what you simply already know. Your thinking is not rational and almost supernatural. Whatever rational tool you use to explain and create order- don’t forget that. After all, real healing can’t take place when not facing what is really there.

Growing up, you just knew more than was said or explained to you. You knew what members of the family were concerned about, their worries and fears. Being young, you didn’t have the words or full understanding necessary to express what you found out. This may have created patterns of repressing your thoughts as they caused anxiety. You were also exposed to secrets and topics that you couldn’t fully digest and had to repress. It is possible adults could sense your mature grasp of their situation. Some adults use children with this Mercury as their therapists: telling them all their problems. While others, fear and punish these children for knowing their secrets.

Which one was it? For whatever pattern played out, you still learned that your thoughts are…Dangerous. You didn’t know why, but you knew you had to start hiding them from others or someone will get hurt. You may have experienced, that your words can deeply hurt others and have shied away from expressing your ideas.

As you grew older, you started to learn how to put your intuitive knowing into words, images or some other form that others could grasp. That is why fields that study human behavior are very appealing to you personally, they help you make sense and order inside the turmoil and chaos in your mind. Remember, this is an emotional space for Mercury to be, therefore a search for order and healing is such a large part of your journey.

It is important for you to not get too tied to old ways of thinking. Just because in the past, something you said or though created a painful situation doesn’t mean it will always be so. Try new ways of thinking and learn to detach from thoughts that create fear.

On some deep level, you believe there is something flawed or even crazy about your mind. Again, this is simply a misunderstanding from the past.

I believe, the problem is not only those past situations where you hurt others or they hurt you. Rather, the problem is that you know within that you hold great power. This power scares you as they are afraid unleashing it will create destruction.  This is the typical Plutonian problem. In the case of mercury, it can be dealt with through expression. Look at the sign and aspects of your Mercury to find where you can let out steam in a positive way.

Because you repress thoughts that bother you, eventually they must come out. In that, your Mercury is highly creative. It has a lot of energy to unleash into this world. This energy can be used to create something new. Usually, I find Mercury in the 8th house people, do best when they express what they need to in order to feel good and cleanse the toxic waste of years of painful words and ideas. So once you work in a selfish manner, you become a canvas for new creations that others can appreciate.

Your mind tends to work in cycles and patterns. Once you have an idea of experience you never forget it and simply keep adding more to it during life. This goes for both positive happy memories and some difficult ones. You are good at analyzing almost anything and can make a great researcher. The key is…What you research must have “meat” to it. The Virgo can analyze dry number sand figures, but you?

You need to be fascinated and engaged. Naturally, human emotions are attractive. But what you might find it, you can be just as engaged with anything else if you find how. I mention this because it might prove helpful for you to find a positive focus- instead of the unsteady ocean of humanity.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, just engage with something harmless. Your mind is like an engine in need of fuel and you can’t go for long periods of time without intense probing.

The other extreme is also likely; you might find that after periods of “detoxing” your ways of thinking you need something new to be interested in. You might jump into whatever presents itself…You are always on the hunt.

Again, if you forget you are driven by intuition (it is very easy to do so), you might end up drowning in your new subject of obsession.

Many 8th house Mercury people, end up making themselves their prime subject of research…working on healing their mind and transforming their way of expression. In part, because of bad experiences in childhood and in part, because they are motivated to seek the root of everything. Subjects that are endless are the most attractive: the occult, spirituality, god, science and anything that can’t be fully understood.

You enjoy the process of understanding and searching for answers more than the answers. It a real thrill for you! And so careers that allow you to exercise your detective mind are a possibility. You probably dislike small talk and concert answers…You know things are always more complicated then they seem.  That attitude combined with your great listening skills can make you a valued friend and lover. You take your own promises seriously and treat others with a level of non-judgment. Perhaps, because you know where they are coming from and not because you think they are good.

Your way of communicating can be interesting and elusive. You probably heard the phrase: “what do you mean?” many time. You can learn to deliver your voice and create a mysterious atmosphere.

Some current examples of this Mercury are Mark Zuckerberg who influences the world through communication with Facebook and Eddie Murphy: who is unafraid to bring the taboo subject to light using comedy. In general, once the power of communication is unleashed you can become well known for your brand of communicating and have other people really drawn to you.

You can be ruthless with your words when deeply hurt. Although the knowledge of the effect words have, will over time help you avoid this. Still, it is a good idea to have relationships based on real trust, intimacy and shared interests. Relationships based just on social roles and mutual pleasures can’t hold your interest for very long.

Ultimately, your journey is all about learning how to act on the power you have and not fearing it. Balancing the need for dramatic intensity with the need for spiritual clarity and finding meaningful ways of self-expression. You will keep transforming all your life until you reach a point that feels true for you. Meanwhile, you are highly flexible and curious about all the possibilities. You are fearless about getting dirty in the process of your search. That is where the famous connection to the taboo comes from regarding this placement.

You will seek anywhere and find beauty in dark places. One day, shaping the world when you communicate what you find…Something others are too afraid to look into but can be valuable for healing us all.

Keys:

Knowing your own darkness, accepting the darkness of others.

Embracing your power to influence other people.

Looking your own fears in the eye.

Finding a subject of interest that can have a positive impact.

Letting go of old patterns of thinking.

The 12th house: What is Wrong with the World

When a planet sits in the 12th house of a natal chart it can be both a beautiful and difficult experience, often at the same time. If you have a planet of even several planets in the 12th house learning as much as you can about it is crucial. This is because 12th house planets can be hard to ever fully know and own. Especially if the rest of your chart is much more accessible overall. for example, you have a lot of fire signs or planets in houses 1 to 7.

The way I see it, one issue is that any planet in the 12th house is already passed on from this world. It is that part of you that is old, wise, evolved more than any other. It doesn’t mean it has not lessons to learn, but it may feel it does not want to fully be present in the here and now- it wants to escape into other realms of being beyond physical existence. It wants to go back to the other world, the womb and the infinite world of the divine.

Do you see the problem? Many parts of life do offer us illusory escape: We dream in our sleep, we watch movies and read books, listen to music and daydream. So whatever planet is in your 12th house is going to be somewhat prone to not wanting to deal with its mission in the classic sense.  For example, Mercury would not want to use rational thinking and prefer mystical thinking, Venus may not consider physical beauty and form, Saturn will feel like the ultimate victim of circumstance.

I’m painting what seems like a negative picture but really it is only one aspect of this. After all, I did say this planet is already living in the spirit world- it is your highest self. But can that part of you meet reality? Can it live in our current world?

The real issue is that we are living in a world that is not perfect. We see and feel a great deal of suffering. Today more than ever we are exposed to what is going on in the world through the news and online. It cannot be ignored. As a 12th house person you will not be able to shut off all that feels so very wrong to you. Growing up you probably were told to shut off your empathy because it didn’t fit in so well with daily life and tasks. You may have been made to feel you need to reject that part of yourself that felt something was not right. You see this with children who ask questions, who wonder why things are the way they are. Teachers and grown-ups tell them not to ask those questions, not to cry over the puppy or homeless man in the street. Instead you were told you need to be strong, too survive, to fight and do your homework. To do all these Virgo things of daily routine and living. On the one hand, it is very true that the 12ht house person needs to learn to go through life all the mundane tasks of work and routine. To learn to take hold of every day and not run away. The problem is that our current world is not yet built for true compassion- people ate focused on surviving and on being “strong”. You probably rejected those aspects of yourself. Try and think back on when and how it was happening. Try and remember who you used to be before you had to develop thicker skin. You might even discover some problems started taking up root in your mind and body when it happened. Just because you disowned those parts of yourself that could not handle the pain and emotional stimulation- those parts are still a part of you. A disowned 12ht house is like a palace full of treasures with a wide open door: anyone can come and steal its treasures and burn it down to the ground. An owned 12th house shines bright light for miles, it opens its door to those in need and closes it in front of those who wish to do evil.

The people who tell the 12ht house person to develop thicker skin and be strong are missing the point. Sure, you could use some tools to deal better with organizing your life and achieving some goals. But your strength is simply different. It is not the fighting kind that goes to war like Mars. Or the kind the develops ideas like Mercury. It is the elusive strength of Neptune: that only seems weak on the surface but in fact is more long standing then them all. You have behind you the power of spirit, and the entire light of creation. Can anything triumph that? You tell me.

You need to let the planet in the 12th house be who it is, stop wearing masks and acting. Playing a role is so common for you may have forgotten you are going through the motions of a written script.  There is always a powerful creative force behind the 12th house planets, they can unleash creations that do seem to come from out of this world. They can excess experiences that people only dream of and bring them into our reality. Transforming what is wrong by showing the gap between the way things are and the way things should be. The 8th house does this too but through death and transformation, the 12h house is already…Dead. It knows what stays infinite despite death:  What is true and good, that is love and actions that impact people. These stays and never die and form them it will fight.

What is your 12th house experience?

I hope to explore the 12th house in my next posts. Starting with planets and moving on to aspects and celebrity charts.

Venus in the 7th house: Messengers of Love

Key: People who come with a social message of the divine in us all, love, beauty and goodness prevailing no matter what.

Types: Peaceful Hippie, (dangerous) cult leader, romantic filmmaker, the marriage counselor.

Challenges: developing confidence and independent identity.

Gifts: humor, charm, artistic skill, political activism through art.

Famous people with Venus in the 7th house: Charlie Chaplin, Marlin Manson, J. K Rowling, Russel Crow.

The 7th house is very important angle in any Birth Chart; it is also called the Descendent.

What happens when your Venus is in the 7th house?  To simplify, your sense of value, confidence and well-being becomes very dependent on other people.

Venus is strongly related to our sense of confidence and self-love. It shows how we love ourselves, our self-presentation to the world through artistic means such as style. It is also related to how popular we are socially and to the things we enjoy doing for pleasure. It is a very happy planet and can give insight into those areas of standing secure on our two feet (Taurus) and our movement in the world as we connect to other people (Libra). With Venus here, relationships take center stage and the desire for love is extensive.

It can go in two directions: You can be very popular and well received by other people or you can feel unloved and even hated. Sometimes even at the same time!

As a person you know how to express affection from a young age. Your warmth, sweetness and joy were your gifts. Depending on how you were raised you will deal this gift to the world. If parents were cold and did not respond to your love nature you will become ashamed and try and hide it. As a teenager your attractiveness will make it impossible to avoid dating so it is likely you came out of hiding. You will then learn that love was only to be found in romantic relationships or sexual intimacy. This version of Libra Venus uses its charm to attract other people and to not feel ashamed or alone. They do not feel real confidence in themselves and sometimes even feel guilty to be so gifted. These men and women chase a romantic dream of love- where they will be accepted and all will be ok. The love they lacked as children will finally be given to them. All they must do? Keep being charming, beautiful and to give people what they want.

Of course, this is true for any Venus! But the Libra Venus bases so much of Its self-esteem not on worldly achievement (10th house) creativity (5th house) or nurturing abilities (4th house) instead it is very much about having another person by their side.

It doesn’t matter to them that the relationship is not perfect or even broken. They feel fulfilled at having someone who can be their mirror and show them their positive traits.

Not to sound too gloomy, I think many Venus in Libra go through a phase of needing and wanting a relationship and there is nothing wrong with that. As long as it leads them to the higher developed version of this beautiful Venus.

You see, Venus in Libra gets to know itself through the love of other people. It needs to explore relationships of all kind: From friends to enemy’s, they need to experience the full rainbow of human interaction. it is their food for growth. They choose career that involve dealing with people or human relationships. They become experts on the topic and know how to solve people’s problems in this area. Why? Because they have so many problems in relationships! So they enjoy learning how to solve such things. Work out arguments, strengthen intimacy and harmony. They also enjoy watching human interaction unfold even from the side lines. So getting caught up in gossip, drama and strange stories is not uncommon. Turning their need into a career can be a smart move for them, because they can find rational and practical tools to deal with relationships. So studying counseling, law or drama is helpful.

Many Venus in Libra enjoy esthetics, especially if those involve social topics and human psychology. Those with artistic careers deal with human-relations and social issues in music, film and drama. It all leads back to their need to understand why love isn’t there for everyone. Why can’t everyone receive love equally? Why can’t we live in a society built on partnership?

These folks genuinely care about such questions and will spend their life figuring it out.

They are very charming and attractive and can use this understanding for good and bad. Many dictators and cult leaders have Venus in the 7th house. Their charm is a power that if they feel alone and misunderstood- they use as a weapon. If they grow away from that hurt they can instead inspire others to love who they are and accept that everyone is divine and beautiful in their own right.

You see, they are stronger than they appear because they their Venus means they would always find some sense of inner light eve when times are hard. They imply need to stop searching for it on the outside and look at what they bring to the table.

Usually, for this Venus how people treat them reflects their inner state. If they repress fear or anger they will receive it right away. The world is like a mirror to the process of their growth so paying attention to that- and understanding how it works can be healing.

In seeking a partner, they must be very careful that he relationship is fair. That both partners come in from similar values. Not uncommon for this Venus to step into a very unfair relationship. If well placed marriage is a very happy and romantic affair that gives them strength to fulfill all their goals in the world. In friendships they should try and have a wider circle of friends so they don’t get too stuck with one group of people. Ultimately developing a strong individual set of values that will carry them into a more stable and happy life. For that, exploring different places, people, relationships, philosophies of love- is needed. This quote sums it up perfectly:

“There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us,
it doesn’t behoove any of us to speak evil of the rest of us” said a Venus in Pisces in the 7th house Edgar Cayce.

Taking Care of your Mercury

In your natal chart, the planet Mercury might be overlooked in relation to your emotional well-being, but what can be more important than being able to connect with the world? To communicate with friends, lovers and family and to express your points of view to others? We as human beings need to feel heard and understood. We need it like air. Sometimes we talk because we want to feel we matter in the eyes of people. Sometimes we listen and offer our help and advice to loved ones. When we feel no one is listening or what we are saying is ignored we start to feel like we don’t matter. We ask: “What is wrong with me? Am I invisible?” This is Mercury territory. Sometimes, we change our communication just to fit in, and slowly we start to feel like we are lying to ourselves. This is normal and there is no avoiding compromising ourselves in society on some level. The problem starts, when this effects our self-esteem and ability to respect our boundaries. When a buildup of our unexpressed thoughts starts collecting like dirty laundry in our minds we become weaker. Knowing what your true Mercury needs are, can help you not overstep your own boundaries. Here is a general frame work for Mercury in your chart. Remember, aspects to other planets modify your Mercury and can serve as guide lines for dealing with any issue. The house would show you what area in your life this drama takes place.

expressive-ruth-rowland.jpg

Mercury in Fire signs:

You need to say whatever comes into your head. You are an immediate communicator. Holding your tongue feels like torture. You are honest in what you say and don’t see the point of diplomacy. You are very expressive, and people know that you will let them know if you love or hate something. You might feel as if people don’t realize there is more to your thoughts than you show. Your lesson is to learn that if you want to be honest in your opinion, you can give yourself time to take a step back and reflect. You might feel deeper aspects of your mind don’t get to be expressed and others don’t take you seriously. You can teach others to be fearless and less self-conscious. You will learn that not everyone is as fearless and sometimes not hurting feelings is just as important as any truth. Instead, express your clear and bright point of view through other means. You can encourage, lead and shine through your communication.

Mercury in Air signs:

You have many thoughts and ideas happening your mind, focusing on just one seems boring. You need to be stimulated by others. You need your thoughts to meet a point of focus in order to express. Silence is crippling for you and not connecting with others makes you sick. It doesn’t matter if you are understood as long as you are heard. You don’t mind playing devil’s advocate and can say things you don’t really mean. You enjoy small talk, banter and a good argument. You are a quick thinker and can be very objective about your opinions. You see forms of communication as art and in that sense truth is flexible and changing. You need to be around people who don’t try and put boundaries to your communication. It is important others know what you truly believe in and what is simply an exercise for you. Don’t be offended if people take what you say too seriously, just use humor to show them it’s not a big deal.

Mercury in Earth signs:

You like to have a strong foundation to any opinion. You don’t make up your mind without considering all options. You tend to communicate in ways that relate to the immediate world and its concerns. Whatever is happening around you is going to be on your mind. You have the ability to apply anything you study to your communication. Because you you’re your time to reflect before you speak, changing your mind can be a big effort of reconsidering an entire foundation. You think words matter and don’t take it lightly if someone offends you. You can communicate complicate things in a simple manner that anyone can understand. You prefer to listen and only say something if you are sure about the impact it will have. You are good at offering advice to people and they respect your opinion as it looks you worked hard for it. You hate being cornered or rushed by people and feel ignored and disrespected if that happens. You need people who would listen to you.

Mercury in Water signs:

You communicate only a small portion of what is on your mind. You feel thoughts are an endless process that you have no control over. You are strongly effected by opinions around you. You can be flexible in your communication and use non-verbal means. Using movement, dance or body language feels more honest. You adapt your communication to the circumstance at hand. You connect to the world and others through symbols and larger ideas. You sometimes erupt in very expressive outbursts and speeches about things you care about- that surprise people. You would rather stay silent than have a conflict. Words can wound you deeply. You can communicate what others are thinking better than they can. You are not so good at communicating what you are thinking. It changes anyway.

Venus in Capricorn Revisited

A while ago I made a post about his Venus claiming it had bad taste. I do not take the fun out of that observation but clearly this does no justice to this placement or to understanding it.

I kept thinking back to this Venus in Capricorn, to the steady energy of people with this natal Venus. The way I like to consider Venus, is its relation to values and beauty in our lives. It is very much about how we express our love and joy to the world and what we consider worthy of our attention.

If you have Venus in Capricorn it means you have a highly developed love nature. That is because love for you is something to be earned. You were probably one of these kids who had to do something to receive affection- you had to perform in some way. In other words- love was hard work, not an easy flow you could just enjoy. As a result, as a grown up you have very high standards for what you need to do before you open yourself to love. This is also true about what you expect from others- they must go through gradual stages of effort to win your heart.

The key word is gradual, persistent and stable effort.  You can’t fully give or take warm sensuality, love or even friendship without these little efforts to lead you there.

You are very good at building a long-lasting relationship, and most of your connections are long lasting. At the same time you are just as good avoiding any connections if they are deemed unworthy to you.  If you feel the other person is not going to put in any effort or comply to the gradual steps in the relationship- you simply walk away, unattached. This might seem a bit cold to the outside perspective, but really it is your way to create love in life. You know you can’t have it any other way, and truthfully why should you?

The problem is, that at times it might be too easy to fall into a pattern of avoidance, of being single or staying a polite distance from others. Especially when young, Venus in Capricorn can avoid dating or serious relationships altogether. This is ironic considering they only want that type of relationship. They do have an inner ideal of a traditional, marriage or at the very least a long lasting partnership that is conventional enough. Take Miley Cyrus as an example- on and off again with one serious boyfriend she is now engaged to. After all the wild years she really wants that traditional marriage. This is true to Venus in Capricorn in that no matter how freedom loving the rest of the chart might seem- at some point they will simply want to settle down.

For you love is not a flashy thing, it is not made of huge promises or lavish luxuries. It is made out of small efforts, commitments and most importantly growth. Every relationship you have is about gradually getting better, stronger and more refined. You need to know that love is about climbing up somewhere towards a goal. This goal can be anything you decide but you must see it is moving to a higher point over time. If a relationship is good but it stays the same for years? You will feel you have failed somehow. This is unfortunate, as you might become cold towards a perfectly great partner. It is better you speak the goal out loud and find ways to work towards it together. Usually, it can be something small but it still means a lot to you.

Other than that, you are a warm lover who likes to take care of another person. You enjoy knowing you can put in efforts (work) to take your partner to their highest point. You are fine with being asked to do about anything- you will not shy away from any challenge. Unless, this is something you consider being a down grade.

For example, if the person you love asks for something you think is ugly, unworthy or simply will make them appear “lower” in some way. One man with Venus in Capricorn I knew, would  buy his girlfriend beautiful clothes, jewelry and perfume but when she asked for a pair of ripped jeans she liked- he would not but them- for him she will be downgrading her looks and he would not be party to that. This is of course one example, and his can play out on emotional levels. If she had a Venus in Capricorn she might simply avoid showing angry emotions in the relationship- instead choosing to walk out of the room. Again, this is really about keeping things classy.

Venus in Capricorn, is very particular about social norms, behaviors and appearances. Again we can go back to how they won over the adults in their lives- who gave them love when they acted polite, respectful or even like “little adults”. Parents to Venus in Capricorn should be aware of this and give their smart child some leeway to be wild, messy and silly.

Sexually speaking, Venus in Capricorn are very sensual (earth sign) they are not aggressive and they are very careful about what they do until they are sure if you like it. A lover who lets them go wild a bit is what they need- they need to lose control once in a while and to show their affection in a free fashion.

Now the pitfalls for you are many. To start with, you can as I said before become too focused on things you want and avoid deep relationships. You can also end up with someone who will manipulate you to work for them. I have many examples of this Venus being abused and staying for years- putting in more efforts the more the relationships fails. So you should avoid both extremes, of too much or too little.

A good partner for you is someone who enjoys being nurtured, who will make all the secret gentleness come out from under your controlled self. Who will make you want to touch and hug them, feed them and take care of their needs. This is someone who is not aggressive, who is sensitive and has sweetness about them, someone who enjoys and appreciates the small daily efforts and the larger vision of the relationship. Who has a good vision into the future and who doesn’t want huge romantic gestures taken from a movie set. You also need a partner with a head on their shoulders, who can think in a rational manner, avoid becoming too emotional and not irrupt into intense emotions.

This is basically someone with qualities that are a crossover of Cancer and Aquarius. So if you meet someone is both in need of what you can give but also not too dependent on you- you found a match.

Now, a bit on the gender differences of this Venus: If you are a Woman with Venus in Capricorn you give love the way this post describes. You put in effort, you act classy, and you take time with building the relationship to fit what you want. You are elegant and you don’t erupt with intense emotions. You know how to walk away with grace- unless you have worked so hard you will never walk away no matter how bad it gets.

If you are a man with Venus in Capricorn, you want an elegant, small boned partner who is hard working but also wise beyond their years. Who will take a more traditional role in in the relationship. You may not admit to it but you do want her to be a bit “crazy” on an emotional level and you do enjoy a sensitive partner who will allow you open up. You want a family, children and a nice house. And you want the house (metaphorical house) to get bigger every year.

Some other key points for this Venus:

Love has no price. You are worthy of love just as you are. You don’t need to way for what you want. It is okay not to have to ask for what you need. If someone doesn’t enjoy what you give- they never will and no amount of sweat is going to change that.
